The League

Netball Now Social League is a fast-growing network launched in June 2025, designed to deliver a smooth, professional experience for social netball players across multiple venues.

Founded and run by Abbie Tarsey, Netball Now currently operates 5 live leagues, with 2 additional leagues launching next month, reaching nearly 300 players. With several more venues already secured for later in the year, the business is scaling rapidly, with ambitious growth plans heading into 2026.

Each venue operates with dedicated umpires, while Abbie manages the league centrally — overseeing registrations, payments, fixtures, results, and communications.

The Challenge

Before launching, Abbie knew the biggest risk wasn’t demand — it was admin.

The core concern was finding one reliable platform that could manage everything in one place: registrations, payments, team management, fixtures, league tables, and clear visibility for players around when and where games were happening.

Payments were the biggest potential pain point. Chasing outstanding fees manually would quickly become stressful and time-consuming as leagues grew.

“There was a real worry that admin would take over and pull me away from the things that actually drive growth — like securing venues and expanding the leagues.”

Without a proper system in place, managing players manually would have meant missed registrations, unpaid fees slipping through the cracks, disorganised fixtures, and leagues lacking structure. Most importantly, Netball Now simply wouldn’t have been able to grow at the pace it is now.

Our Solution

From the outset, Abbie chose Magic Sports as the operational backbone for Netball Now.

Rather than trying to build a system from scratch, she implemented Magic Sports before launch — ensuring registrations, memberships, payments, fixtures, and communications were handled centrally from day one.

The platform’s simplicity and ease of use were key. Even without being particularly tech-savvy, Abbie was able to set up leagues quickly, manage multiple venues within one system, and give players a clear, professional experience from sign-up through to match day.

Crucially, everything sits under one roof, allowing Netball Now to scale without adding complexity or admin overhead.

Setup & Launch

Getting started was fast and straightforward.

The initial league setup took less than 30 minutes, supported by a guided setup wizard that removed guesswork and ensured nothing was missed. Now, with confidence using the system, adding a new league or venue takes around 5 minutes.

Players immediately responded positively to the experience. Registrations were quick, payments were simple, and players appreciated being able to view fixtures directly in the player portal.

Umpires and coordinators found the system equally easy to use, with fixtures clearly accessible and match results logged in around five minutes per game.

“After launching the first league and seeing how smoothly everything ran, I knew this model would work.”

The Results

What started as a smart operational decision quickly became a growth engine.

Before Magic Sports, admin would have taken up around half of Abbie’s working week. Now, league admin requires just 5–10 minutes per day, freeing up time to focus entirely on growth.

In just 6 months, Netball Now scaled from 1 league to 5 leagues, with 2 more launching at full capacity next month. In January alone, the leagues exceeded 200 new player sign-ups.

At the end of 2025, Netball Now had just under 200 registered players. By the end of 2026, the league is projected to reach around 1,000 players.

Payments are now virtually hassle-free, with smooth monthly billing and no manual chasing. Registrations, fixtures, league tables, and communication all run automatically in the background — removing stress and giving complete visibility across the business.

The Impact

For Abbie, the biggest shift wasn’t just efficiency, it was confidence.

With admin under control and everything running through one system, Netball Now is able to book more venues, launch faster, and scale without fear that operations will break.

“If you’d told me a year ago the scale of growth I’m now planning for 2026, I would have laughed. With Magic Sports, it’s actually possible.”
